Application steps
Choose the right French visa type
Start by identifying the visa category that matches your purpose of travel — tourism, family visit, business, medical, or study. All French visa applications from Jordan must originate at the official France-Visas portal. It is the only authorised channel; applications submitted outside this portal will not be accepted.
Complete your application on the France-Visas portal
Create a personal account on the France-Visas portal and complete the Schengen application form online. Form errors are one of the most common reasons for refusal, so review every field carefully before confirming. After submission, the portal generates the list of supporting documents specific to your case and routes you to appointment booking.
Prepare the supporting documents required for Jordan applicants
- Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date, issued within the last 10 years, with two blank pages.
- Jordanian ID card, or valid Jordanian residency permit if you are a foreign resident.
- Stamped bank statements covering the last 3 months.
- Employment letter and a recent salary certificate.
- Round-trip flight reservation and hotel bookings covering every night of your stay.
- Schengen travel insurance with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
- Recent passport-sized photo meeting Schengen specifications.
Review your file item by item before submission to avoid additional document requests or delays.Book your biometrics appointment at TLScontact Amman
After completing the form, book your appointment with TLScontact Amman, the official France visa application centre in Jordan. The centre is located at Husseini Building, Zahran Street between 7th and 8th Circle, 8th floor, Amman 11821, and operates Sunday to Thursday. An "Apply Anywhere" service is also available for collection at locations in Amman and Aqaba. Book at least 3 weeks before your departure date.
Attend the appointment and pay the fees
At your appointment your ten-fingerprint scan and facial photo are taken, your file is reviewed, and your passport is held. Pay the embassy fee (Schengen) and the TLScontact service fee at the centre, in cash or by card. Biometrics are mandatory for applicants aged 12 and above. The whole appointment takes about 20 minutes.
Track processing at the French Embassy in Amman
Your file is forwarded to the French Embassy in Amman for decision. A Schengen short-stay decision is typically issued within 15 working days from the date the embassy receives the file, and may be extended in additional cases. Track your application via the TLScontact account you created at booking.
Collect your passport and visa
Once a decision is issued your passport is returned to the TLScontact centre. Collect it in person with your ID, or request the optional courier delivery service. Before you travel, verify the visa data (name, number of entries, validity dates) against your passport, and keep copies of your bookings and insurance ready in case of border checks.
FAQ
What is a Schengen visa?
A unified visa that allows entry to 29 European countries within the Schengen area on a single visa, with a stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
How long is a Schengen visa valid?
Usually granted short-term (up to 3 months) with single or multiple entries. In some cases it can be issued for longer — up to 5 years.
Can I travel between Schengen countries on a single visa?
Yes, a Schengen visa allows entry to and free travel between all 27 Schengen countries with no extra visa required.
What is the most common reason for refusal?
Weak ties to Jordan, failing to convince the embassy you will return, weak financial standing, or incomplete documents. We help you strengthen your file before you submit.
Does the application require a personal interview?
Usually not — most applications are decided on the documents. In special cases the embassy may request an interview.
