• Tourist Visa (Type C)

  For leisure travel and sightseeing in Hungary for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

• Family & Friends Visit Visa

  For visiting relatives or friends with a notarised invitation from the Hungarian host.

• Business Visa

  For attending meetings and conferences with an official invitation from the Hungarian business host.

• Cultural & Sports Visa

  For taking part in cultural, sporting, scientific, or religious events.

• Medical Visa (Short-stay visa)

  Issued for the purpose of receiving treatment at Hungarian hospitals. Classified as a short-stay visa, with stays not exceeding 90 days. Requires detailed medical reports plus an official invitation or booking confirmation from the relevant hospital.

1. Choose the right Hungarian visa type

   Start by identifying the visa category that matches your purpose of travel — tourism, family visit, business, medical, or study. Schengen short-stay applications from Jordan are submitted through VFS Global Hungary in Amman on behalf of the Embassy of Hungary in Amman. Direct embassy submission may be available in specific cases by prior arrangement.

2. Create an account and complete the application

   Register on the VFS Hungary Jordan portal and complete the Schengen visa application form online. Make sure your name, passport details, and travel dates exactly match your supporting documents — formal errors are a leading cause of refusal.

3. Prepare the supporting documents

   Refer to the official "C-type Schengen visa application" page from the Embassy of Hungary in Amman and the list of required supporting documents, and prepare:
   - Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date, issued within the last 10 years, with two blank pages.
   - Jordanian ID card, or valid Jordanian residency permit if you are a foreign resident.
   - Stamped bank statements covering the last 3 months.
   - Employment letter and a recent salary certificate.
   - Round-trip flight reservation and hotel bookings covering every night of your stay.
   - Schengen travel insurance with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
   - Recent passport-sized photo meeting Schengen specifications.
   All documents must be in English or with an official English translation.

4. Book your biometrics appointment at VFS Amman

   Book your appointment with VFS Global Hungary at Baraka Mall (Level P3), Sweifieh, Amman. Submit at least 15 working days before your departure date, and no more than 6 months in advance.

5. Attend the appointment and pay the fees

   At your appointment your ten-fingerprint scan and facial photo are taken, your file is reviewed, and your passport is held. Pay the embassy fee (Schengen) and the VFS service fee at the centre. Biometrics are mandatory for applicants aged 12 and above. The whole appointment takes about 15–20 minutes.

6. Track processing at the Hungarian Embassy in Amman

   Files received by VFS are sent to the Embassy of Hungary in Amman the next working day. Schengen processing typically averages 2 to 3 weeks, and sometimes longer depending on nationality and season. Track your application via the VFS account you created at booking. Refusals can be appealed in writing within 8 days of the decision.

7. Collect your passport and visa

   Once a decision is issued your passport is returned to the VFS centre. Collect it in person with your ID, or use the optional courier service. Before you travel, verify the visa data (name, number of entries, validity dates, residence type) against your passport, and keep copies of your bookings and insurance ready in case of border checks.

• What is the most common reason for refusal?

  Weak ties to Jordan, failing to convince the embassy you will return, weak financial standing, or incomplete documents. We help you strengthen your file before you submit.

• Does the application require a personal interview?

  Usually not — most applications are decided on the documents. In special cases the embassy may request an interview.
