Application steps
Choose the right Canadian visa type
Start by identifying the visa category that matches your purpose of travel — Visitor Visa (TRV) for tourism, business, family or medical visits; Study Permit; Work Permit. Most applicants from Jordan need a TRV, often issued for multiple entries up to 10 years (or until passport expiry). See the Visit Canada page on Canada.ca.
Create an IRCC account and apply online
Go to your IRCC online account, the official portal of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Complete the Apply for a Visitor Visa form, upload digital documents, and pay the embassy fees by credit card. After submission you will receive a Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) by email asking you to attend VFS Canada in Amman for biometrics.
Prepare the supporting documents
Refer to the official document list on the Apply for a Visitor Visa page and prepare:
- Passport valid for the maximum expected stay, with at least one blank page.
- Jordanian ID card, or valid Jordanian residency permit if you are a foreign resident.
- Recent passport-sized photo meeting IRCC specifications.
- Stamped bank statements covering the last 6 months.
- Employment letter and a recent salary certificate.
- Round-trip flight reservation and hotel bookings covering every night of your stay.
- Invitation letter if your visit is family-related.
- Cover letter explaining your purpose of travel and itinerary.
Personal appearance is mandatory at the biometrics step.Book your biometrics appointment at VFS Canada Amman
After receiving the Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) from IRCC, book your appointment at VFS Canada Amman. Biometrics must be given within 30 days from the date on your BIL. To find the official VAC use the Find a VAC tool on Canada.ca.
Attend the biometrics appointment
Attend at the VFS Canada centre in Amman with your passport, BIL and biometrics fee receipt (if not already paid via IRCC). Your ten-fingerprint scan and facial photo are taken and transmitted to IRCC. Biometrics are valid for 10 years for visit, study and work applications. You may also submit your passport here later if requested for the visa sticker.
Track processing at IRCC
IRCC reviews and decides the application. Processing time varies by season and demand — see the Check processing times tool on Canada.ca for an estimate. Track your application via your IRCC account. If your passport is needed for the sticker you will receive a Passport Request (PPR) letter.
Submit passport and collect visa
On receipt of the PPR, submit your passport to the VFS Canada centre where you applied. Your passport with the visa sticker is returned via VFS or courier within days to weeks. Before you travel, verify the visa data (name, number of entries, validity dates, residence type) against your passport, and keep copies of your bookings and insurance ready in case of CBSA checks at the port of entry.
