Application steps
Choose the right Romanian visa type
Start by identifying the visa category that matches your purpose of travel — tourism, family visit, business, medical, or study. Since 1 January 2025, Romania is a full Schengen Area member, so the Romanian visa is a Schengen C visa allowing onward travel within the Schengen zone. Applications from Jordan are submitted directly to the Embassy of Romania in Amman — Romania does not work with VFS, TLS or BLS in Jordan.
Register and complete the application on EVIZA
Go to the official EVIZA portal of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, create an account, choose "Schengen Visa" and complete the application form online. The system generates a confirmation receipt with your registration number — keep it for your appointment.
Prepare the supporting documents
Refer to the Romanian Visa guide on the Embassy in Amman website and the general entry conditions page, and prepare:
- Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date, issued within the last 10 years, with two blank pages.
- Jordanian ID card, or valid Jordanian residency permit if you are a foreign resident.
- Printed and signed EVIZA application form.
- Stamped bank statements covering the last 3 months.
- Employment letter and a recent salary certificate.
- Round-trip flight reservation and hotel bookings covering every night of your stay.
- Schengen travel insurance with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
- Recent passport-sized photo meeting Schengen specifications.Attend the appointment at the Romanian Embassy
Attend at the Embassy of Romania in Amman (33 Al-Madeenah al-Munawarah Street). Personal appearance is mandatory for biometrics. Pay the embassy fee (Schengen) at submission. Biometrics are mandatory for applicants aged 12 and above. Submit at least 15 working days before your departure date, and no more than 6 months in advance.
Track processing
A Schengen short-stay decision is statutorily issued within 15 calendar days, and may be extended up to 45 days in additional cases. For status updates, contact the embassy directly via the channels published on its official website.
Collect your passport and visa
Once a decision is issued you will be notified to collect your passport in person from the embassy with your ID. Before you travel, verify the visa data (name, number of entries, validity dates, residence type) against your passport, and keep copies of your bookings and insurance ready in case of border checks.
Important: Romania's Schengen status
Romania became a full Schengen member on 1 January 2025. The visa is now a Schengen visa, valid for the whole zone (no separate Romanian-only visa). Verify the latest rules on the Romanian MFA visa policy page before applying.
