Application steps
Choose the right German visa type
Start by identifying the visa category that matches your purpose of travel — tourism, family visit, business, medical, or study. Schengen short-stay applications from Jordan are submitted through VFS Global Germany in Amman on behalf of the German Embassy in Amman. National (long-stay) visas are appointed directly with the embassy.
Complete the VIDEX online application
Use the official VIDEX system from the German Federal Foreign Office to fill in the Schengen visa application form. The system is available in English and Arabic. After completion it generates a PDF with a barcode that speeds up processing at the centre. If you stop for more than 10 minutes your data is deleted, so save your reference number to resume later.
Prepare the supporting documents
Refer to the Schengen visa requirements published by the German Embassy in Amman and prepare:
- Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date, issued within the last 10 years, with two blank pages.
- Jordanian ID card, or valid Jordanian residency permit if you are a foreign resident.
- Printed and signed VIDEX form.
- Stamped bank statements covering the last 3 months.
- Employment letter and a recent salary certificate.
- Round-trip flight reservation and hotel bookings covering every night of your stay.
- Schengen travel insurance with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
- Two recent passport-sized photos meeting Schengen specifications.
For minors under 18, both parents must be present at the appointment to sign the VIDEX form.Book your biometrics appointment at VFS Amman
Book your appointment with VFS Global Germany Jordan at the Amman centre. Walk-ins are not accepted. Submit at least 15 working days before your departure date, and no more than 6 months in advance.
Attend the appointment and pay the fees
At your appointment your VIDEX barcode is scanned, your ten-fingerprint scan and facial photo are taken, your file is reviewed, and your passport is held. Pay the embassy fee (Schengen) and the VFS service fee (around EUR 33.50) at the centre, in cash or by card. Biometrics are mandatory for applicants aged 12 and above. The whole appointment takes about 15–20 minutes.
Track processing at the German Embassy in Amman
Your file is forwarded to the German Embassy in Amman for decision. A Schengen short-stay decision typically takes around 3 weeks, and may be extended in additional cases. Track your application via the VFS account you created at booking.
Collect your passport and visa
Once a decision is issued your passport is returned to the VFS centre. Collect it in person with your ID, or request the optional courier delivery service. Before you travel, verify the visa data (name, number of entries, validity dates, residence type) against your passport, and keep copies of your bookings and insurance ready in case of border checks.

What is a Schengen visa?
A unified visa that allows entry to 29 European countries within the Schengen area on a single visa, with a stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
How long is a Schengen visa valid?
Usually granted short-term (up to 3 months) with single or multiple entries. In some cases it can be issued for longer — up to 5 years.
Can I travel between Schengen countries on a single visa?
Yes, a Schengen visa allows entry to and free travel between all 27 Schengen countries with no extra visa required.
What is the most common reason for refusal?
Weak ties to Jordan, failing to convince the embassy you will return, weak financial standing, or incomplete documents. We help you strengthen your file before you submit.
Does the application require a personal interview?
Usually not — most applications are decided on the documents. In special cases the embassy may request an interview.
