Switzerland Visa

Once your documents are complete, we walk you through booking your appointment at VFS Global for biometrics capture and file submission. You attend on the day; we accompany you in every step.

• Tourist Visa (Type C)

  For leisure travel and sightseeing in Switzerland for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

• Family & Friends Visit Visa

  For visiting relatives or friends with a notarised invitation from the Swiss host.

• Business Visa

  For attending meetings and conferences with an official invitation from the Swiss business host.

• Cultural & Sports Visa

  For taking part in cultural, sporting, scientific, or religious events.

• Medical Visa (Short-stay visa)

  Issued for the purpose of receiving treatment at Swiss hospitals. Classified as a short-stay visa, with stays not exceeding 90 days. Requires detailed medical reports plus an official invitation or booking confirmation from the relevant hospital.

1. Choose the right Swiss visa type

   Start by identifying the visa category that matches your purpose of travel — tourism, family visit, business, medical, or study. Since 1 August 2025, Schengen short-stay applications from Jordan are submitted through VFS Global Switzerland in Amman, the official external service provider for the Embassy of Switzerland in Amman. National "D" long-stay visas are submitted directly at the embassy by appointment.

2. Create an account and complete the application

   Register on the VFS Switzerland Jordan portal and complete the Schengen visa application form online. Make sure your name, passport details, and travel dates exactly match your supporting documents — formal errors are a leading cause of refusal.

3. Prepare the supporting documents

   Refer to the official Application for Schengen visa and procedure page from the Swiss Embassy and prepare:
   - Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date, issued within the last 10 years, with two blank pages.
   - Jordanian ID card, or valid Jordanian residency permit if you are a foreign resident.
   - Stamped bank statements covering the last 3 months.
   - Employment letter and a recent salary certificate.
   - Round-trip flight reservation and hotel bookings covering every night of your stay.
   - Schengen travel insurance with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
   - Recent passport-sized photo meeting Schengen specifications.

4. Book your biometrics appointment

   A prior appointment is mandatory — the embassy does not receive clients without one. Book either with VFS Global Switzerland in Amman or, where eligible, directly with the embassy. See the Where to apply for a Schengen visa page for the exact channel that applies to your case. Submit at least 15 working days before your departure date, and no more than 6 months in advance.

5. Attend the appointment and pay the fees

   At your appointment your ten-fingerprint scan and facial photo are taken, your file is reviewed, and your passport is held. Pay the embassy fee (Schengen) and the VFS service fee at the centre. Biometrics are mandatory for applicants aged 12 and above.

6. Track processing at the Swiss Embassy in Amman

   Your file is forwarded to the Embassy of Switzerland in Amman (Abdul Jabbar Al-Rawi St. 4, South Abdoun) for decision. A short-stay decision is typically issued within 15 working days, and may be extended in additional cases. For inquiries, email amman.visa@eda.admin.ch.

7. Collect your passport and visa

   Once a decision is issued your passport is returned to the VFS centre or embassy where you applied. Collect it in person with your ID, or use any optional courier service offered. Before you travel, verify the visa data (name, number of entries, validity dates, residence type) against your passport, and keep copies of your bookings and insurance ready in case of border checks.

  A unified visa that lets you enter 29 European countries in the Schengen Area on a single visa, with up to 90 days of stay in any rolling 180-day period.

• How long is a Schengen visa valid?

  Typically issued for a short duration (up to 3 months) as a single or multiple entry. In some cases it can be issued for longer — up to 5 years.

• Can I travel between Schengen countries on one visa?

  Yes — the visa lets you enter and move freely between all 27 Schengen countries with no extra visa needed.

• What is the most common reason for refusal?

  Weak ties to Jordan, the embassy not being convinced you will return, weak financial standing, or incomplete documents. We help you strengthen your file before you submit.

• Does the application require a personal interview?

  Usually not — most applications are decided on the documents alone. In special cases the embassy may request an interview.
