Application steps
Do you actually need a Cyprus visa?
Cyprus is not yet part of the Schengen area, so it issues its own national visa. However, holders of a valid multiple-entry Schengen C visa can enter Cyprus without a separate Cyprus visa — often the fastest and cheapest option for travellers from Jordan. If you do not have a multi-entry Schengen visa, follow the steps below to apply for the Cypriot national visa. Refer to the official Visas section on Gov.cy.
Choose the right Cypriot visa type
Identify the visa category that matches your purpose of travel — tourism, family visit, business, medical, or study. Applications from Jordan can be submitted either through VFS Global Cyprus in Amman (Galleria Mall, Sweifieh) or directly at the Embassy of Cyprus in Amman at 17A Alexandria Street, Abdoun.
Complete the application form and prepare documents
Download the Cypriot visa application form from the embassy or via the Visas section on Gov.cy. All documents must be in English. Prepare:
- Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date, issued within the last 10 years, with two blank pages.
- Jordanian ID card, or valid Jordanian residency permit if you are a foreign resident.
- Two passport-style photographs (35 x 45 mm) for all applicants, including minors.
- Stamped bank statements covering the last 3 months.
- Employment letter and a recent salary certificate.
- Round-trip flight reservation and confirmed hotel booking (or host invitation form) covering every night of your stay.
- Travel insurance covering your stay (recommended even if not strictly required).
The Cypriot national visa procedure does not require Schengen-style biometrics.Submit through VFS Global Amman or at the embassy
At VFS Global Cyprus in Amman, book your appointment online and submit your file at Galleria Mall, Sweifieh. Pay the embassy fee plus a VFS service charge of around EUR 7.75 in cash. Note: VFS does not accept applications on the last two working days of each month. Alternatively, attend the Cyprus Embassy direct at Alexandria Street, Abdoun (visa submission Monday–Thursday 09:30–12:00).
Track processing
Processing at the embassy normally takes around 10 working days, and may take longer in some cases. Lodge your application no earlier than 30 days before the start of your trip. Contact the consulate at consulate.amman@mfa.gov.cy or +962 6 565 7467 for status updates.
Collect your passport and visa
Once a decision is issued you will be notified to collect your passport — at VFS Amman if you applied there, or at the Cyprus Embassy if you applied direct (passport collection 12:00–13:00). Before you travel, verify the visa data (name, number of entries, validity dates) against your passport, and keep copies of your bookings and insurance ready in case of border checks.
Note: Cyprus and Schengen status
Cyprus is in the process of joining Schengen. As of late 2025 the technical preparation is complete and EU political endorsement is anticipated in 2026 — procedures and channels may change after formal accession. Verify the current rules on the official Visas page on Gov.cy before starting any application.
